OFS Pathway

In partnership with Operation Fresh Start, the Madison Metropolitan School District has developed OFS Pathways.

OFS Pathways includes an academic and career component. Lead by a MMSD teacher, students will engage in direct core academic instruction through the OFS Gateway curriculum of career development, employability skills and post-secondary education goal development.

Students will receive a paid thirty-two hour a week job training internship that revolves around construction and remodeling for affordable housing or conservation and environmental stewardship projects.

Student Eligibility

  • Madison students who are eighteen through twenty-one years of age may apply to be considered for enrollment.

  • Construction and conservation work occurs year-round and students must be willing to be outside during inclement weather.

Enrollment

  • Talk to your school counselor or school social worker if OFS Pathways is right for you.

  • If you and your family agree, school staff will complete a referral form for OFS Pathways.

  • When there is an opening, OFS Pathways staff will directly contact you to invite you to a tour, interview and to apply for the program.

  • If accepted, you will no longer attend classes at your school of residence.
