In partnership with Operation Fresh Start, the Madison Metropolitan School District has developed OFS Pathways.
OFS Pathways includes an academic and career component. Lead by a MMSD teacher, students will engage in direct core academic instruction through the OFS Gateway curriculum of career development, employability skills and post-secondary education goal development.
Students will receive a paid thirty-two hour a week job training internship that revolves around construction and remodeling for affordable housing or conservation and environmental stewardship projects.
Madison students who are eighteen through twenty-one years of age may apply to be considered for enrollment.
Construction and conservation work occurs year-round and students must be willing to be outside during inclement weather.
Talk to your school counselor or school social worker if OFS Pathways is right for you.
If you and your family agree, school staff will complete a referral form for OFS Pathways.
When there is an opening, OFS Pathways staff will directly contact you to invite you to a tour, interview and to apply for the program.
- If accepted, you will no longer attend classes at your school of residence.
